Brown Image Car Club: passion for excellence
We are Brown Image Car Club, founded in 1970.
This is who Brown Image Car Club is.
In the early 1970s, life in Logan Heights was very different. Many young men from the neighborhood attended San Diego High School, often walking long distances or riding buses to get there. Along the way, friendships were formed with older students who already had cars, and afternoons were spent together after school at places like Barrio Station.
Students also came from nearby communities, including Sherman, Shelltown, Southcrest, and surrounding neighborhoods. What began as simple after-school hangouts grew into something deeper a shared sense of belonging, pride, and identity that naturally evolved into the foundation of a car club movement.
At the time, only a few car clubs existed in the area, including Brown Image and Latin Low Riders. Latin Low Riders was made up mostly of older members from Shelltown, while Brown Image represented a younger generation from Logan Heights, driven, passionate, and eager to create its own path.
When I joined Brown Image, there were no more than twelve members. Even then, the values of unity, respect, and brotherhood were firmly in place, defining the club from the very beginning.
